Reds Keep On Coming

I haven’t had many charters this week so I don’t have many photos to share.  We’re still catching the Red Drum and  lots of bluefish.  Saturday I saw my first Spanish Mackerel so now is the time to book your charter if you want to chase the Mackerel.  I also have August 5 & 6 still open for the Cobia.  I had a fisherman down the Bay forward the photos of Cobia and they were monsters so I am attaching one of the photos so you can see what the excitement is all about–50 to 80 lb fish.   Cobia steaks on the grill are good eating!

Large Cobia on the Hook

Fantastic Open Boat Day!

Today on the Open Boat Day I had a good group of anglers who got a lot of action catching Red Drum and Bluefish.  The Red Drum were all too large to keep but I think everyone enjoyed reeling one in.  We also got into schools of working Bluefish and they were the largest I have seen this season–averaging 3 – 5 lbs.  We caught around 100 Bluefish and we sent everyone home with a nice sack of fish filets.  Thanks for fishing with me and hope you’ll return.

I’ve got an awful lot of days available for charter so I’m sure if you want to go fishing I can probably accommodate your schedule.  Give me a try and I’ll do my best to show you a good time.

Aug. 5 & 6 Available for Cobia/Shark Charters

Two prime days(Friday & Saturday), August 5 & 6, are available for the Cobia/Shark Charters.  We’ll leave from Horn Harbor Marina in Port Haywood at 6:30 a.m. for a full day of fishing out to the lower Bay and Ocean off the Bay Bridge tunnel and Virginia Beach.  No evening charters will be available during those days.  The cost for these charters will be $675.00 for up to 6 passengers and $50 for each person over the 6 due to the extra fuel required to get out to the fishing grounds.   Both Cobia and Shark are excellent to eat and your mate Jacob will steak them and package them ready for you to put on the grill.  If you haven’t tried this kind of fishing I encourage you to get a group together and give it a try.  804-529-6725

Open Boat Days: Aug. 14 & Sept. 2

Cost is  $100 a person and limited to first 10 who make a reservation and send payment.  Price is for a full day leaving at 6:30 a.m. from Coan River Marina and includes mate’s tip. Just bring your lunch and beverage.  Contact via phone or email if you want to reserve a slot.

Lots of Fishing Options Now.

Fishing in the summer months offers a lot of different options because we have so many different species to go after.  It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced angler or just a beginner, we have something you will enjoy catching during the summer.  Larger quantities of Bluefish have arrived now also so that makes it even harder to choose what you want to target for the day when you charter.  Bluefish are real fighters and you’ll see a lot of breaking action as you reel them in. The only thing we’re still missing are the Spanish Mackerel and they should arrive any time also.  I’m going after Cobia & Shark the first part of August & relocating down the Bay just for one week & I still have a couple days available so get your group together and give me a call.  Capt. Dave

Monster Red Drum Have Arrived!

The Red Drum have arrived.  Caught 10 of these beauties today ranging from 35 to over 50 lbs!  The photo is of a release Citation Red Drum measuring 47″ long.  I’m taking morning and evening trips so you’ll have a chance to get in on the action.  First Mate Jacob and I are always willing to teach you how to catch these monsters if you would like.  I anticipate them running through August.  The Spanish Mackerel are in the lower bay and working their way up so we’ll soon have them in the mix also.  Call 804-529-6725 and leave your evening phone number or email through this website to book a charter.  Cost for these trips are still  $575 for up to 6 people and $50 for each additional person over six. See you soon!  Capt. Dave
