Red Drum are here & if you are a game fisherman & enjoy the sport of hooking and releasing big beautiful fish then you want to set up a charter to go after the Drum. I took my family out today for my son and daugher-in-laws birthdays and since they are great sport fishermen we devoted the charter to finding the Red Drum. We patiently trolled and caught plenty of blues but when I found the Red Drum we had all lines hit at one time. In 30 minutes we had hooked 9 and both my wife & daughter-in-law caught cititaions — 64 & 58 pounds. Way to go Marion & Jouette! All of the fish were large and over 45″. When you catch fish this size you will remember it for a long time! Plenty of days still available so give me a call to set something up. Capt. Dave
I plan to relocate the boat to Horn Harbor Marina in Port Haywood, VA to go Cobia & Shark fishing July 22 -31, 2012. We’ll go down to the Bay Bay tunnel area where the Cobia & Shark fishing is already good by the reports I ‘m getting. I am going to charge $700 for up to 7 people and $50 for each person over 7. I will be limited to one charter a day because of the running time to the fishing grounds. Cobia are large fish that run 30 – 50 lbs or more and each person can keep one fish. There is no limit on the Smooth Dog Shark we’ll be catching. Both are a thrill to catch and excellent food fish. Call 804-366-5050(cell) or 804-529-6725(home) to reserve your day.
Friday- July 13, and Saturday- August 11, are Open Boat days. The cost is $100 a person & includes the mate’s tip for the day. Limited to 10 passengers. Boat leaves the dock at Coan River Marina in Lottsburg at 6:30 a.m. and returns between 2 – 3 p.m. By reservation only and must be paid in advance to hold your space. If for some reason we can’t go because of bad weather I will refund your money or you can put it toward another day. Give me a call to make reservations. David
What a day we had today! We found the Red Drum and they were real choppers! Had one citation that was 47″ long and 50+ pounds. We hooked and released seven Drum and we were catching Bluefish at the same time. Brought home 52 Bluefish and a lot of good photos and long lasting memories of reeling in the Red Drum. Also this week we bottomfished for Spot, Croaker, & Perch and also went Striper fishing. There’s a good variety of species to go after now. Father’s Day is coming and I can’t think of a better Father’s Day Gift so contact us to set up your charter. We’ll go early morning or afternoon–it’s your preference as I always try to accommodate. Capt Dave
We had some tough days fishing last week where we really had to work hard to get what we got. Then over the weekend something changed and they started biting again. On Saturday I had a group we took exclusively bottomfishing because it was too windy to get into the Bay and they were catching them so fast that I didn’t even have time to take photos. They were catching them 2 at a time and Mate Jacob and I had our hands full baiting hooks. They ended up with a big Igloo cooler full of bottomfish. On Sunday we went Rockfishing and caught 22 keepers. As always, Jacob and I really appreciate all who come to fish with us.
